In 2012, CNN did a story on my hometown, Lancaster, South Carolina shining light on an area that was hit hard by the closing of textile giant, Springs Mills. For years Springs was the lifeblood of Lancaster. But they merged with an overseas company, became Springs Global, and moved all of their operations to Brazil. Some folks in Lancaster took offense to the CNN story which prompted a We Are Lancaster movement. When I moved back to Lancaster in 2016, I began to document the houses and dwellings around the old Springs in Lancaster which was torn down after the company moved overseas. I began to wonder what the folks who still live on the Mill Hill, as locals refer to it, thought of the We Are Lancaster movement.
